 Artist Statement:

As an artist I have always looked for something new, that stretches the viewers thoughts and asks them to participate in the work. To me, a piece that has all the lines and information doesn’t allow the viewer the full art experience. While working in my studio recently, I came across a new technique for pouring the bronze which gives beautiful, heavy texture while retaining a recognizable figure. Over the past three years I have refined this technique so that it is more consistent. The end result is a high relief sculpture with the bronze thrown into the mold to create unique textures on each piece while keeping a recognizable image. A contemporary look to an age old topic.

Biography:

I am a native Montanan with five generations behind me. Growing up on a small ranch I was constantly drawing and sculpting. After earning a BA in Art Education I became a teacher and continued an active art career. In 1997 I began creating a bronze line of rustic hardware, which has been very successful, selling in over 350 retail stores across the country.

The Western Art Rodeo Association is proud to have C.M. Chip Jones as a member. We look forward to sharing and promoting his artwork in the near future.
