Western Art Rodeo – Heart of Montana Event Update

Announcing a Great Opportunity for Western Artists to show their work in Montana!

The 2012 Heart of Montana, Western Art Show and Sale will include the following:

  • Western Art Show
  • Silent Auction
  • Raffle for Prizes

Cost to Participate

Any Western Artists that wants to show and sell their artwork is invited to participate. Cost is $0. No W.A.R.A. Membership Required.

Event Dates and Times

Set up will begin on Wednesday, August 15th in the afternoon. The pieces will be on display August 16th, 17th and 18th. The art show will run from 12:00 p.m. to just before the Rodeo starts each night.

Art Show

This area will be in the RIMROCK arena at Metrapark. The area is indoors and air conditioned. We will show as many pieces as we have room for. Artists will provide their own display, booths, etc. and display and sell as many pieces as we have room for. The art show will run from 12:00 p.m. to just before the Rodeo starts each day. Artists are required to attend their own booths during the event. We will do our best to make sure this area is secure, but with any show, it is a good idea to cover anything of value when you leave.

Raffle for Prizes

The W.A.R.A. will be holding a raffle for prizes during the event. Some members have offered to donate artwork for a raffle in an effort to help the association get started at this event. If you would like to donate a piece of artwork for the raffle, you can. If not, that’s ok too. Participation in the raffle is optional.

Silent Auction

Artists will also be able to bring a piece of artwork to put in the silent auction if they choose to do so. These pieces will be on silent auction in the art show area during the daytime, then moved to the Cowboy Club (in the rodeo arena) before the rodeos each night. (The idea behind this is to let people know that these pieces are FORSALEand not just on display.) We will be running the silent auction (and displaying more artwork) just outside the Cowboy Club near the concessions area of the rodeo.

Commission

The W.A.R.A. is asking is for a 20% commission on sales at the event. This includes sales in the galleryand the silent auction. This way, you only pay if you sell something.

Bonus

Participating artists will be given 2 general admission tickets to the rodeo on Thurs, Fri and Sat. nights. These tickets will also admit 2 to the fairgrounds each day.

How Many Pieces can I bring?

MontanaFair has provided a lot of space for this event. They want as much artwork as we can get. Bring as much as you want and we will display everything we have room for. (this is a big space and there should be plenty of room for everything!  We have also been invited to display artwork at other locations at the fair and theYellowstoneMuseumat the airport.)

Do I have to be a WARA Member?

No, come and show your artwork and help us grow the organization. No membership is required to participate this year.

Room Reservations

The WARA has about 4 rooms left (reserved) at the Super 8 (about $90 per night) for the first ones that want them. We also have 4 camping spaces left with full hookups at no charge. (If you want a room or camping space, please put this in the e-mail so I can mark you down.)

Our Goal

Our goal is to make a nice showing of Western Art at this event and to promote the artists that choose to attend as much as we can. We hope to establish a local committee to grow the event into a full Western Art Rodeo Event in 2013 and beyond. There will be no Art Rodeo Competition this year.
