Craig Hone goes to great lengths to create his wood sculptures. In the video below, Craig shares his Wooden Owl Sculptures.
These designs took Craig over three years to complete, in order to capture that perfect moment in time.
Craig spends countless hours researching anatomy, posture, actions, and more in order to create a great work of art.
As you can tell from the video, everything must be perfect in order for Craig to call the piece, “complete”.
Thanks to Craig for sharing his experience, we hope it will help you in your own projects.

Craig your work has inspired me more than any other work for past twenty years. You bring a fresh look to the current western sculpture look. The old masters would be proud of you. I agree also, that as artists we need to spend time around our subject matter to really be able to capture the spirit.
What are you currently working on?
Craig was the first artist in wood to show me the excellence that I aspired too. Attending the workshop with his family opened doors into my mind and understanding of what I wanted to do with my carvings. When clients today start asking how “fast” thier work will be done, I will advise that if they need it in a hurry I am probably not the person to do what they want. Craig shows me that patience, understanding and desire for the best you can do is not done “fast”. Thanks Craig
