He has been inspired by nature, growing up in the central mountains of Utah.
Craig’s artwork has been developed by his appreciation and study of great art that has been created throughout history. He has spent countless hours developing his art by studying the works of the great masters.
He has also spent much time in his studio studying anatomy of the animals he creates.
Though he has completed highly detailed work in the past, Craig is now recognized for his more impressionistic style.
Countless hours are spent observing, drawing, studying anatomy and clay sculpting before Craig even picks up a wood carving tool.
“It is very important to understand the subject, if you don’t, it will surely show in the end results of your carving.” – Craig Hone
Craig carves commissioned pieces, teaches carving classes and more.
