James Fain has spent nearly 50 years capturing the western lifestyle and it’s landscapes in photographic images. His interest in the lure of the west began when he was only six years old with a family move from Iowa to Arizona. “We lived on an uncle’s cotton and horse ranch for several months, and from then on, everything was about cowboys.”

Mr Fain,
I am looking for a copy of a picture that was in a story you did for the Western Horseman magazine, November 1971. The story was about the 1971 NIRA Finals and the picture was of the Champion Women’s Team from Tarleton State College. Can you give me any information about this? It would be greatly appreciated….
Thanks,
Martha Wright
