I have been fortunate to have traveled throughout the world but my roots are here in Tuolumne County, California where I grew up in rural east Sonora. My growing up years were spent cavorting in the outdoors fishing in creeks, gigging frogs, swimming in farm ponds, and hunting small game. My father was a large animal veterinarian and I spent countless hours with my Pop on ranch calls and today I enjoy cowboying for local ranchers branding and driving cattle. Attending rodeos is a big favorite for mine as well as fly fishing, hunting, hiking and camping.” – Mark Bergstrom

“I returned to Sonora two years ago after a 39-year hiatus that took me to Davis, Los Angeles, Saudi Arabia, Cincinnati and San Francisco pursuing my professional career in management consulting and running a variety of large nonprofit organizations. Photography has been a means of capturing my love of the great outdoors.
My work has been featured in local shows and fundraising venues. My work is currently on display at the Ventana Art Gallery and the George Post Gallery in Sonora. Recently I was awarded first place in color photography among 238 entries at the Northern California InFocus Art Show and Competition.
In addition, I was fortunate to have been awarded the prestigious Charles Moore Award for Excellence in Photography for a photograph titled “Boots.” The award was in honor of Charles Moore, a nationally recognized National Geographic photographer who lived in Tuolumne County.
I work exclusively in digital color photography in large formats with an emphasis on our Western Heritage – cowboy and ranching life.”
